Family Engagement

Here is a simple suggestion to help engage families and allow them to participate in their child’s learning.  Place a large chalkboard and some chalk at the entrance of your centre, daycare, and home child care setting or anywhere else families travel through.  In large letters write the following words:  My Child Is interested In...   You may need to add a few comments to get the ball rolling but soon you will witness a beautiful thing, family engagement (statement of principles #2; Partnerships with families and the community strengthen the ability of early childhood settings to meet the needs of young children).  Use the suggestions shared by the families as a point of departure for creating your centers’ programming.  This will actively engage families to focus on their children’s interests.
